Tips, Tricks, and FAQs

  • When filling your jello shots, you may want to use an injector. It is less messy and quicker. If you don’t go this route, you will want to use a pourable measuring cup.
  • Add whipped cream and fruit to the top of each shot right before serving if you prefer.
  • For a fun variety, you can add fruit pieces to the jello shot itself.
  • To make a non-alcoholic version, just omit the alcohol.
  • Feel free to double the batch if needed.

Storage

You will want to store these in the fridge until you are ready to serve.

If you find yourself with leftovers, place them in the fridge, covered. Storing them uncovered will cause them to dry out. These will last up to 10 days when properly stored.

It is not recommended that you freeze these.

Can I make Sangria Jello Shots ahead of time?

Yes, you can make Sangria shots ahead of time. You want to give these shots plenty of time to set up before serving, so I recommend making them about 24 hours in advance.

Can I add in extra alcohol?

I do not recommend adding in additional alcohol. If you do, they will not set properly.

The only way you can add more alcohol is if you want a thinner, more runny consistency for your jello shot.

Notes

Items Needed:

  • 2-Ounce Shot Cups with Lids
    • Injector or Pourable Measuring Cup
    • I use an injector because it makes less of a mess and is quicker. However, using a pourable measuring cup works also.
    • Do not leave these uncovered in the fridge if you plan on storing them. They will dry out if you do. It will take them a couple of days to dry out, so it’s ok if you don’t remember, but if you plan on storing them for a few days, be sure to cover them.
    • These will keep in the fridge, covered, for about a week and a half. Do not freeze.
    • Do not garnish if you’re storing for a couple of days. You can garnish the shots up to 2 hours before serving. They do best if being garnished right before serving though.
    • Be careful going over the stated amount of alcohol. If you do, they may not fully set up. If you like a little thinner consistency for your jello shots, you can add more alcohol.
    • You can add the pieces of fruit to the jello itself before placing it in the fridge. This is another fun way to serve them.
