Tips, Tricks, and FAQs

  • Use your favorite orange juice for this recipe. I use Sunny D because I love the bold orange flavor that it has.
  • Be sure that you get no pulp orange juice. If you use pulp orange juice, you will see pulp in the shots making it not look very appetizing.
  • When filling your jello shots, you may want to use an injector. It is less messy and quicker. If you don’t go this route, you will want to use a pourable measuring cup.
  • When making your shots, I like to make them on a cookie sheet or in muffin tins. This gives me a nice flat surface and allows me to transport them easily in and out of the fridge.
  • Add the garnish right before serving.
  • Before adding your peaches to the top, pat them dry. The juices from the peaches will make a mess if you don’t dry them off.

Storage

You will want to store your fuzzy navel jello shots in the fridge, covered. They will keep for up to 10 days when properly stored. If you choose not to cover them, they will dry out quickly.

Be sure to not store them with the garnish on.

Can I make these ahead of time?

Yes, you can make these up to 2 days ahead of time.

Be sure you make them in plenty of time so they can be set properly before your guests arrive.

Can I add in additional alcohol?

No, you do not want to add additional alcohol. Adding more alcohol than the recipe calls for will cause the jello shots to not set properly.

Notes

  • Be sure to pat dry your peach slices if you plan on using them as a garnish. If not, the juices will make a mess.
  • I use Sunny D as my “orange juice” because I like the flavor better. This is just a preference, but I think you guys would love it.
  • Don’t use orange juice with pulp in it. It makes the shots look gross. If you don’t mind that and like pulp, feel free to use it.
  • I like to line up the shot cups on a cookie sheet or another moveable, flat surface, before filling them. It makes it easier to transfer them back and forth from the fridge.
  • Be sure to store the shots with their lids and without the whipped cream and peach slice. They will keep in the fridge this way for up to two weeks, although I wouldn’t recommend it, as they taste the best when used within a week. Do not freeze.
