Keto Onion Bagels

Keto Onion Bagels are the perfect low-carb bagel to enjoy throughout the day. Enjoy one for breakfast or a snack or create a delicious meal using these low-carb onion bagels. These Onion bagels are made with almond flour, cheeses, and a few other ingredients that you probably have on hand.

Bagels are one of my favorite things to eat, but following a low-carb diet, these have always been a big no, until now! Thankfully this keto onion bagel recipe allows us to fulfill our cravings thanks to the almond flour, mozzarella cheese, and cream cheese to create a delicious Onion bagel we all love! 

Make a big batch of these to enjoy for breakfast, make a Keto Turkey club with it, or even Keto Pizza on an Onion bagel! This Keto onion bagel is the perfect alternative to regular bagels! 

Keto-Onion-Bagels-Ingredients

Ingredients

1 cup almond flour

1 1/5 cups mozzarella cheese (freshly grated or bag is fine)

2 tablespoons of cream cheese

1 egg

½ tablespoon of olive oil

1.5 teaspoons of baking powder

1 teaspoon of onion powder

1 tablespoon of onion flakes

How to Make Keto Onion Bagels

1. Preheat the oven to 375F and prepare a sheet pan or baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Combine the almond flour, baking powder, and onion powder and mix well.

3. Add mozzarella and cream cheese to the bowl and microwave in 45-second increments until the cheese is completed melted and forms a ball of dough. Should go through 2 cycles.

4. Add the egg to the bowl and vigorously mix it or use your hands, just make sure the egg is fully incorporated into your dough.

5. You will want to make four balls of dough. Roll them each into a ball and gently push a finger through the center to make a nickel-sized hole. Place on parchment paper and repeat on the other three bagels. Make sure the bagels are two inches apart.

6. Use the olive oil and brush the bagels on top and top with onion flakes.

7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until a nice golden brown forms on top.

8. Let cool for 10-15 minutes and then enjoy!

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • This recipe makes 4 keto bagels. You can double the batch if you would like. 
  • Be sure that your bagels are at least 2 inches apart on the tray. Without proper spacing, they will all cook together. 
  • You can make the dough ahead of time. Just wrap it tightly and keep it covered in the fridge. This will last about 1 week. 
  • You want to be careful not to handle the dough too much especially if your hands are hot. This will cause the dough to become quite sticky. If this happens, cover it and place it in the fridge for about 30 minutes and then begin working with the dough again.

Storage

Because these Keto onion bagels are made with mozzarella cheese you will want to store these in the fridge. These will last up to 3 days. They do not last nearly as long as regular bagels.

You can freeze these. Just wait for them to cool completely and place them in a freezer-safe bag. These will last up to two months.
