Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • These cookies do call for strawberry cake mix, however, you can use any flavor of cake mix that you prefer.
  • While these cookies bake they do spread a bit, so be sure not to place them too close together on the tray.
  • After 10-12 minutes these cookies may look undercooked, but as they cool they do continue to bake. It is essential to pull them out on time as well as let them cool for 3-4 minutes on the tray prior to moving to the cooling rack.
  • We recommend you not sample the dough of these cookies prior to baking because these cake mix cookies are made with raw eggs.

Storage

You will want to store your cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days. You can still enjoy them after this but they may be a little bit harder than you prefer.

Can you freeze cake mix cookies?

Yes, cake mix cookies freeze great. You will want to let them be completely cool. Once cooled, place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place them in the freezer to harden. When they reach this stage, place them in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.

When you are ready to enjoy, thaw your desired amount of cookies at room temperature.

Notes

These cookies have a great flavor and are soft and fluffy. The flavor has subtle notes of strawberry mixed with the chocolate of the M&Ms.

These cookies may still look undercooked at the end of cooking time, but I found that after they were cooled, they were perfectly baked.

Make sure to space these cookies out, they spread wide.

If you find they are browning too quickly on the bottom, try raising the baking sheet up to a higher shelf in your oven.

This recipe works with any 15 oz cake mix box and tons of different add-ins. You could use white chocolate chips, regular chocolate chips, sprinkles, etc.

Storage:

These should keep in a sealed container for 3-4 days. After that they start to turn hard.

Food safety:

This recipe contains raw eggs, so avoid eating the cookie dough.
